Another air conditioning problem that I failed to mention is the leaking unit. You notice that your floor around your inside unit is wet. You look in the closet and there is water leaking around your inside unit.
This could mean one of two things. One is your drain on your system is stopped up. This is the most common problem. This is also good because you might be able to fix this problem. To fix this problem you sometimes can use a wet/dry vacuum and use it on the drain line outside to clear the blockage. It your inside units drain has an open connection at the top, you may have to block it off before you vacuum it out. Another method is to use air or something (non-flammable) to blast the blockage out. Again you may have to block off the open connection. Sometimes you may have to disassemble your drain at the unit. If it is PVC then you can cut it and install a coupling in the cut spot. Check with your hardware store for the correct parts . The second one is you may have a drain pan leak or your unit may be unlevel. If your unit is older it is more likely you have a leak in your drain pan. You will have to call a serviceman for this.

A/C system frozen. Serviceman found after 2 visits that indoor system coil leaks. Home warranty co won't pay saying indoor and outdoor system incompatbile 3 ton vs 3.5 tons. House inspector says he didn't have access which is not true. Who do I have recourse with> Original installer? City ?
I can't say if you have any recourse. A lot of the time the information is not legible or missing on older equipment. During the course of the previous owner, he probably used an inexperienced serviceman to replace the outdoor system. The problem is not everyone is concerned in doing the right thing and just making a quick buck.

Oh, that can be disappointing! Most of us look at these leaks as a normal occurrence with our AC units, but it's not. And you can face slippage, too! It's good to have an experienced serviceman to deal with that. It should be remedied as soon as one sees signs of it to avoid further slippage! :)

Leaks are underrated problems that need more than the expected attention. Just like roof leaks, water can damage not only your unit but also your house in general.

Yeah, you’re right Avery. Leaking AC units can cause accidents and further damage to your unit if not taken care of properly. Hiring a professional to fix it is the best thing you can do, especially if you do not know anything about fixing your AC. You might make the damage worse if you do it yourself, without the proper skills.
